Our History
Our history began in 1988 with Shoreline Residence, an 18 bed Community Based Residential Facility in Cudahy, WI...
Founded by a team of two siblings, Richard and JoAnne Coury, it provided a strong administrative and compassionate nursing balance which set a precedent for future growth. Their sister, Geralyn, was added as a nurse in 1992. In 1995, their brother, John, also joined the nursing team in a newly built facility in Cudahy.
The growth continued in 2001 with the expansion into Franklin when the namesake property, Elizabeth Residence, a 63 bed, 2 building property named after the Coury’s mother, was built. A fifth sibling, Mark, was brought on board in 2005 with the acquisition of the Bayside campus, a 52 bed Community Based Residential Facility and newly opened and remodeled 40 unit independent and supportive living apartment complex.
Our Philosophy
The Courys believe in a respectful philosophy valuing the health, well-being, and dignity of our aging seniors...
The importance of a high level of personal care and commitment reflects their pride in their family-owned business. They and their employees get to know Residents individually taking time to understand and provide for their special needs, for their likes and dislikes. These relationships with family, Residents, and staff promote a balance between independence and assistance. The right amount of personalized care, comfort, entertainment, activity, and choice all create a personal sense of independence and joy.
Residents are loved and supported by many groups from the Resident Care and Nursing teams to the Food Service and Activities staff, as well as the Maintenance and Administrative departments. The Elizabeth Residence mission statement summarizes the Courys’ hopes for their Residents, their families, and for their employees as well.
Our Mission
The Mission Statement of Elizabeth Residence is a simple one...
We are committed to compassionately provide the comfort, health, and quality care of older adults. Our supportive services are offered in a homelike environment in which we encourage each Resident to be as independent as possible.
In this delivery of specialty care, we, as caregivers, view ourselves as the professional visitors charged with the responsibilities to meet the emotional, physical, social, and spiritual needs of each Resident. We expect to achieve that commitment by extending the utmost respect to individual Residents as we serve the community at large by providing these specialty services.
Our hope for our employees is that they adopt and extend these values to our Residents, their families, and our other employees. Our hope for the families of our Residents is that they are confident in and assured of the supportive care given to their loved ones. The Coury family welcomes you to our family of facilities and looks forward to enhancing the well-being and dignity of your loved one.
